Of counsel Gitte Damgaard Sloth heads KPMG Law’s Environmental Social Governance (ESG) practice. Prior to joining KPMG Law, Gitte advised SMEs and large companies from various sectors on ESG matters and headed several legal units in Danish fashion company Bestseller, including the company’s Legal, Compliance and Legal Sustainability teams. Before joining Bestseller, Gitte practiced as an attorney with Danish law firm Kromann Reumert.

Gitte is a leading expert on ESG and sustainability legal frameworks, including EU, national and international requirements and guidelines, such as UN Treaties and conventions, the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, the UN Sustainable Development Goals and various EU, national and international ESG reporting and due diligence legislation. Notably, she advises on transformation of legal requirements and guidelines into businesses’ ESG and sustainability work.

Gitte has extensive experience in identifying ESG gaps, developing policies and code of conducts, as well as with ESG screening and responsible investments. Moreover, she has extensive knowledge of responsible sourcing and supply chain management, and she helps companies complying with and implementing human rights and environmental due diligence. Gitte also assists in developing ESG reports, by prioritizing initiatives and information and making compliance checks.
